As early as four years old, Chef Zu was stamped with the creation of Kings Apron as he watched his Grandmother provide big mama soul food cuisine for the family, shape hand cut hors d'oeuvres, and produce countless creations for her independently ran catering company.
Kings Apron's vision has developed over a delicate length of time. Tapping into memory, love, and culture when designing each plate, Kings Apron focuses on structuring sustainable aesthetics of flavor so that each bite has its own character, leaving a lasting impression on any palate. Kings Apron, while being certified in nutrition, provides plant based options to the community.
Over the past ten years our vision has shifted and expanded from Culinary Art based work to Farm-to-Table Style experiences and Added Value Product Development for local farms and restaurants. During this process Kings Apron became certified in herbalism, while growing and foraging medicinal herbs. We have come to realize the connection between healthy soil, healthy food and healthy communities. The next road traveled focuses on shifting into even further studies of botany, plant identification, permaculture, and soil microbiology.
